Summer 2017 is here in full force! The Tuesday/Thursday rides have ramped up this month to 40+ miles each night through July 13th. A hardy congratulations to all those who braved the annual Mid-Summer Half Century Scorcher and survived! The fast and hilly 50 miles was a challenge even for the strongest in the pack. Due to the popularity of the ride, look for its return on June 21, 2018.

As announced for the last week or so, here are the details on the Seven County Century ride. It will be held on Saturday, July 22nd, leaving from the Lewisville town square at 7:00 am. We will head out to the first stop (mile 32.9) at the Shiloh General Store (the Bakery) via a route that will touch (1)Forsyth, (2)Yakin, (3)Davie & (4)Iredell counties. Following the first stop we will continue west a short distance and cross into (5)Wilkes county, before heading north and east towards our second stop (mile 65.7) at the Rockford General Store (candy store). The final push towards the century mark will take us through (6)Surry and finally a sliver of (7)Stokes county before returning to Forsyth county near Donnaha.

This ride will not be a race. It may very well be a few riders first century ride and we want to make sure it is an enjoyable experience for all. While only two evenly place stops are expected at this time, this may change depending on ride day conditions. The full route can been viewed/downloaded here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/22606004

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Hard to believe but the end of February has already past and our Tuesday/Thursday riding season is about to begin. The season kicks off on Tuesday, March 14th. I hope everyone is taking advantage of the recent bout of spring like temperatures to get their legs ready!

In looking forward to 2017 I am happy to announce we had a season kickoff club meeting on Wednesday, Feb 15th. The meeting held at the Lewisville Library was attending by 22 of our club members which led to a lively discussion of the topics at hand.

A number of ideas were discussed, with the largest amount of time dedicated to the idea of trying to reinvigorate our C Group. We also talked about some potential partnerships for our Annual Bikes for Kids giveaway (more on that topic will come later this summer).

Mark your calendars, the 2017 Bikes of Kids LYRMC will be held on Saturday, May 13th. The ride will start & finish at Old Nicks Pub. Pre-registration will soon be available on active.com for $25. Day of registration will be $30. There will be two routes available, 42 mile and our classic LYRMC 100K route. We are also looking for volunteers to help with our rest stop. If you would like to help out please contact Bruce Abbey or myself.

Reminder - It is less than two weeks until Opening Night!!! To help build our endurance for the upcoming season there is a Show and Roll ride each Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm from the square. The ride will be roughly 2hrs/40 miles at a winter pace.
